How to Get Promoted

Posted on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 by Frank Roche

Want to know how to get promoted? It’s pretty simple, actually. Remember this phrase.

God is in the details.

The formula is simple; the execution is another matter. If you want to get ahead, pay very close attention to what the master of Modern architecture, Mies van der Rohe, said. It’s all about the details, friends.

I can’t think of a single instance where hard work was enough. It’s essential, don’t get me wrong. There are no short cuts. Hard work is the foundation. But the details get you ahead.

I know there’s lots of advice out there not to sweat the small stuff. Yeah, take that advice if you’re happy where you are. Otherwise, listen to Mies van der Rohe.

    Frank,

I love the new version – “God is in the details.” And… you are so right about hard work not being enough!

I think it is down to hard work, perseverence and a little bit of being in the right place at the right time.

Here’s a good article on the things that you can do, yourself (not relying on luck or coincidence) to land your ideal job:
