HR Communication Lesson: Getting Compliments

Posted on Friday, June 26, 2009 by Frank Roche

Here’s what I know about HR communication: It takes 100x more energy to send in a compliment than a complaint.

When you send out communications, you’ll always hear people bitch about it. But know that if people say good things about what you’ve done, that’s communication gold.

Support this post around the web. We would really appreciate it.

  1. Frank – on a similar note, I’ve started to make a habit of sending off compliment emails to people’s bosses (CCing them) when they do great things. So much of HR can be dealing with the things people do wrong, and I think it’s really helpful to reinforce the positive, too!

@Chris…that is so good…and the right thing to do. Saying nice things is free, but not without an effort. Makes me smile to think of it.
