Here’s something you can do in HR today that will really make a difference to your business and your employees:

  1. Pick one policy that you can’t defend in 30 seconds
  2. Pitch it in the trash.

Monday is Pitch-a-Policy Day. What policy could you get rid of?

    Any policy that bans a specific Internet site or tool seems like unnecessary micromanagement to me. I say treat employees like grown ups.

    I have always thought that even governemts should do something similar – imagine this; for any “new” policy (or legislation) an “old” one must be done away with ……

    @Eliot “One in, one out” would be a great plan for policies. If you want a new one, get rid of one. Excellent idea.

    How about Funeral Leave? I had a guy ask me one time, “Ron, the funeral I’m attending is here in San Jose, do I have to take off all 3 days?”
