Mickey Rourke and The Wrestler: The Right Person for the Right Job

Posted on Friday, February 20, 2009 by Frank Roche

I got this note from the writer, Michael Bradley, who has a unique take on many topics. In addition to his sports writing, he also knows HR.

My brother and I were discussing “The Wrestler” Monday, and we agreed that we hoped Rourke won the Oscar for best actor, even though he was essentially playing himself. “Sometimes you get lucky that way,” said my brother, who has acted and directed. Hmmm, the right person for the right job. Sounds like a pretty good formula for success.

Sometimes you get lucky that way. We talk a lot in HR about getting the right person for the right job. When you get it right, it’s magic. (Click on “MENU” in the video embed above to see the trailer for “The Wrestler.” Mickey Rourke should win the Oscar this Sunday.)

Support this post around the web. We would really appreciate it.

“I’m a used up piece of meat” is the phrase of 2009. That’s a great one.

Two great blogs meeting – just like those old Resses’ commercials – peanut butter and chocolate coming together.

Bill, that’s a great way to say it. Whether I’m the peanut butter or the chocolate, I’m glad I ran into him.
