We Are the Champions: Philadelphia Edition
Posted on Thursday, October 30, 2008 by Frank RocheSee that guy in the middle? That’s me. See that shirt? I wore it for three days. Last night I took it off. The Phillies won the World Series.
See all those people? That’s what it looks like when your home team wins the World Series. People came pouring out of every building and bar to celebrate together. There were tens of thousands of people on Broad Street in Philadelphia last night celebrating the Phillies victory. When the Phils won, there was a sustained roar where I was that lasted for minutes. My ears were still ringing five hours later. And then the crowd broke into this song at the tops of their lungs.
We are the champions! Everyone should experience hearing this song when they’ve won something big once in a lifetime.

Frank,
As a transplated-Philly fan, now living in the former hometown of David Price of Tampa Bay – we were shouting last night as well. What a great moment! Just wish I could have been on Broad with everyone else. Take that Tampa Bay fans!
Best wishes. Enjoy the moment, we know all too well it could be quite a while before another comes.

Hi RutgersfFan…what a great one, huh? Funny to be in Tampa and be a Phils fan…that must be crazy.
Headed to the parade today. Lucky enough to score some tickets in the stadium…should be great.

I have no idea what this post is about but I love the song and it looks like you had a good time. Well done Frank and the “Phils”!
