True wisdom. The pace of change in the world is accelerating and you needs to think about what you want now if you are to be prepared to take it in the future.
You need to be ready for that moment when 2 friends go for a short walk and the next thing you know you are quitting your corporate job and starting your own company.
I think that this is a really good lesson for those of us who aspire to transending being good HR managers and moving on to be true HR executives.
Bill, it’s a derivative of your story about “that’s what I pay you for” and the decisions that you have to make in HR. Good decisions now have effects for years.
Rick, that is too funny. It’s been almost 5 years…and I planted that tree well more than 10 years before that.
I make planning and investing in the future of my business a priority. I only wish I would have learned that lesson 10 years ago. Ironic isn’t it.
James, yep, it’s a lesson we wish we all learned 10 years ago.
