Even more to the point is…

When they are, they are.

Too bad that there are not more companies who can boast; “our employees are here when they are here”. The HR Profession needs to stop wasting time coming up with useless terms like “Credible Activist” and “Cultural Steward” and spend more time paying real attention to our employees. And by the way, let’s also stop calling them “human capital”. Sounds like we think they are pieces of office equipment rather than human beings. One other point-Susan Meisinger, the outgoing President of SHRM, needed to retire-she was clueless when it came to the real mission of HR-she loved “HR Sludge” terms like the ones I mentioned above-OK, I’m done ranting and raving! :0)

Employees want (3) things-1) to be paid fairly 2) to be recognized and appreciated 3)information/communication delivered in a consistent and honest fashion. When HR facilitates these (3) things, employees will become truly engaged and energized. It ain’t rocket science!
