A Little Counter-Communication by SEPTA
Oct 11Here’s a really great poster that I saw on my train ride home on SEPTA (that’s the Philadelphia train system) the other night. It’s a sign about what they’ll have to do if people keeps talking loudly on their mobile phones (it’s a big problem). They did this with real style — and a mixture of tongue-in-cheek and a little sarcasm. Fantastic.
This type of communication really gets attention. It’s unexpected and it’s brilliant. Want to get attention in your HR communication? Surprise ‘em.

I love this. While it may be that no communications will reach the truly inconsiderate, this should make those in the gray area take notice and maybe even change their behavior.
Not officious, not condescending. Nice mix of serious and humor. And this came from a public transit agency. Even more amazing.
I love it, love it, love it! They should make tee shirts.
Rick, good one, huh? I was dazzled by how good this was — and on SEPTA. Even cooler. I’m hoping a few of those knuckleheads get the message.
HR Wench, you’re right. That would be a great communication device. I’d wear one on the train!
What’s SEPTA?
Sorry – I should read more carefully!
Rob, lol. I should said what it stands for: SEPTA is the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority. They don’t have the best rep.
ugh. i hate how people get pissed off at cell phone conversations but not conversations on the train.
i think deep down people are just jealous that they can’t eavesdrop on the entire conversation.
ChrissMari, lol. You’re right, it’s funny when it’s an entire convo. What I object to is “yell phones.”
