George Carlin on Employee Engagement

I saw this line in a George Carlin joke list and thought about all of those employee engagement studies:

Most people work just hard enough not to get fired and get paid just enough money not to quit.

  1. I’d like to add something too – “In an office that’s full of politics, most people work for the sake of receiving praises. Criticisms aren’t welcome. Thus when they receive one they get too frustrated that they end up either ruining other people’s reputation or quitting their job.”

An employee’s engagement should be celebrated with an aim that the next years will become more productive and fruitful.

Hi Self: That’s an excellent point and quote. What a forward-thinking way of looking at engagement…plan for them to be productive and fruitful. Right on.
