Some Great Presentation Advice
Mar 30The YouBlog has a post called Death by Memorization. It’s one of the best and most succinct pieces of advice I’ve read in a while about presenting to an audience. (BTW: Earlier this week I saw one of the best presentations I’ve ever seen. Prepared. Clear. Practiced. Extemporaneous. Wow.)

John, I was glad to. I meant what I said…really good piece of writing and advice!
Frank,
Thanks for sharing John’s post and hist excellent blog. I think the best way to avoid memorizing is to have a deep understanding of the subject. If you are giving a 7 minute speech, you should research and collect enough material to be able to speak for at least 30 minutes.

Hi Santosh, I really liked John’s advice on that post. And what you say here is true: be an expert and plenty to say…don’t come up thin.
I also like what you’re doing on Art of Speaking…and I added you to the blogroll and to my daily reads on Google Reader.
Cheers!
Frank – I truly appreciate your feedback. Thank you for adding me in your great site. – Best Regards, Santosh
I remember doing my very first presentatin – and memorising the whole thing! These days I’m more relaxed – it’s more about what the audience needs than what I need.
Thanks for referencing this blog Frank – have picked it up myself.
Hi Megan, I really like The You Blog…glad you do too. And isn’t it so true about presenting? It’s a long way away from those first times trying to memorize…
