It’s All Greek to Me

Lorem Ipsum bracelet from Veer

We use Greeked text when we prepare employee communication mockups. Last year we did a layout with Lorem ipsum text and one of the client’s executives asked why we called it “Greeked text” when it “was obviously Latin.” Um, it’s not really Latin, per se.

“Lorem ipsum” text resembles Latin (and uses some Latin words) and approximates the letter distribution in English so that reviewers don’t focus on the words and instead look at the design. When I saw Veer’s Lorem ipsum cuff bracelet ($55), I thought I might just need one, being in the business and all. But I won’t give it away. That thing about “Beware of Greeks bearing gifts.”

Support this post around the web. We would really appreciate it.
