To Motivate, Get Attention

Smoking Room

This is a painting on a ceiling in a “smoking room.” A buddy of mine sent this and I was just fascinated with what a good idea this is. To motivate your employees you have to get their attention. And then move on. This is a great way to make a point about smoking. Next step: Helping people quit with realistic and actionable programs.

The critical thing is the move from awareness to action. It’s essential. Too often companies and campaigns get stuck in second gear. Scaring people works…up to a point.

The picture do suggest that smokers must stop smoking. This sort of motivation can be effective to others.

Although this picture looks 'threatening', it doesn't really scare people off. It looked freaky at first, but I thought it looked more creative than serves its purpose. Maybe something more nasty-looking will make smokers think twice.
