A Novel E-mail Referral Program

Posted on Thursday, October 5, 2006 by Frank Roche

Securian Financial Services implemented an “E-mail a Referral” program according to this article in InformationWeek. Writer Ted Kemp reports:

Under the system, Securian employees recommended applicants via e-mail to their HR department. The Resume Mirror software in turn automatically triggered e-mail messages to referrals, providing them with an individual Web site link accessible exclusively to each applicant. Job seekers filled out an information form and attached their resumés. The software then performed keyword searches on resumés in order to fill out parts of job applications automatically.

So far, so good. The company guaranteed and HR interview for anyone recommended by an employee, and has hired 13 new employees so far from a pool of 170 referrals.
